??small pink bumps all over legs? Do you know?

My LO has developed teeny itty-bitty pink bumps on her legs. I thought it might be dry skin, but I've been putting lotion on and it hasn't gone away. It doesn't look like a rash.... Doesn't seem to bother her a bit though and she seems totally healthy and normal. And I haven't changed laundry soap or bath soap or anything recently.

Any ideas what it might be? Have you seen this before?

  • My LO has em too. I am pretty sure my daughters are caused when she stays in the warm bath too long and then is exposed to the cold air when she gets out. I feel like it really dries her skin out. I put lotion on her and it helps a little but not completely. Sorry I cant help more.

  • What you are describing sounds like what DD had on her skin. My pedi recommended dove sensitive skin soap and obviously make sure it doesn't get in eyes, and then to use baby vasoline as lotion. It cleared DD skin right up.
  • DS actually had a virus with a horrible rash head to toe. We did plain ole oatmeal baths in the sink and it worked wonders. If it's a bite I would try so Neosporin. It just depends on how many bumps and how big to know how to treat.
  • still sounds like dry skin to me.  DD pretty much has this all winter.  It takes a while for the bumps to go down.  Be diligent with the lotion- maybe use a stronger lotion?  But like always, if you're really concerned then consult your pedi

  • Where exactly are the bumps?

I ask because when DD had hand, foot & mouth, her rash started on her ankles and knees (and inner wrists) before she every had anything on her feet, hands or in her mouth.

  • This sounds exactly like Cam's Eczema.....his little legs were always dry no matter how much Johnson's baby lotion went on them. Our pedi recommended CeraVe lotion. We had to get it from the pharmacy (one big tub=$12). It is great!

  • Ok, since y'all's suggestions seem to fall into two categories, I googled images and found this wonderful visual guide to baby/child skin stuff: (only look at this if you're nerdily interested in this type thing, like I am, otherwise, it's kind of gross)

I'm pretty sure now that it's Eczema, so thank you all for your input!!  Will lotion her up good and hope it clears.  :)

  • DS had this and we took him to the dr....she said eczema.  Like PP said she recommended Dove body wash in the tub and they slather him up with either eucerin or aquaphor twice a day.  It really has helped.  We bathe DS every other day now so it doesn't get too dry.  Good luck!
  • It could be keratosis pilaris.  I have it and LO has it.  It is basically bumps on legs, arms, sometimes neck and face.  There really isn't anything you can do about it, it will just go away as LO gets older.
