TTC after 35

The advice I was given on NYE on "How to Get KU"

A friend of a friend asked me on NYE (in front of the table) if we were pregnant yet. I have never had a conversation about trying with her before.  I then took a sip of my wine and said "oh is it wrong for me to drink if I am KU"?   Flash forward an hour or so and she comes to sit next me. She brings up babies again!  She proceeded to tell me that I should wear high heels to bed and that I will get pregnant... Huh? Yeah, I'm sure THAT is the key I was missing!!!  (Never mind that she has no kids and was separated from her DH for most of 2010 since she was cheating on him).   After she was done giving me "advice", she turned to my other girlfriend, age 37, and asked her if she was dating anyone.  Friend said "no" and was then asked "why".  She took us both DOWN in about 3 minutes...

I took the high road and sipped my wine!!

  • People never fail to astound me with their comments.  I'm very impressed you took the high road.  Not sure I could have done the same.

  • Good for you.  I would have asked her 1) where she got her degree in reproductive endocrinology and 2) whether she thought combat boots in bed would work equally well.

Exactly! How silly of all of us for not knowing this trick! It was the stupidest comment I ever heard so it was actually pretty easy to just ignore the moron...

Not to mention that adopting takes a lot of time/money too. You don't just walk into the adoption store!!  People are idiots....

  • Darn, and to think I threw out the stillettos, lol

    Lynn

  • Wow. Really? I can not believe that! Well, I can but still. That is a terrible thing to say to someone.
Before the holidays I had someone tell me that we just were not trying hard enough.  Some people are just down right rotten.
You are a very strong person indeed. I may have had to lash out - just a little.
For the record - Heels do NOT do the trick...LOL  =O
  • Wow! High Heels Huh? I should try it, geez!  You are a better woman than me, I would not just sip my wine, I would have said a few things.  Good for you.  And Happy New Year.
