Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Minimum age for live shows?

What is the earliest that you would take LO to a live show?  I just noticed today that the circus will be in town in mid-February and Elmo Live in late April.  The boys are 19 months now, so they'd be almost 21 months when the circus was here and nearly 2 when Elmo comes to town.

Is that too young?  Or do you think they'd enjoy it?

Re: Minimum age for live shows?

  • We saw a very short Elmo show that came to the military base when DD was 12 months old. Overall the show start to finish was about an hour. She did fine. I would say a lot depends on your childs teperment, and go into it knowing if it gets bad you can leave without being upset over the money.

  • Personally, it would have been too young for my oldest son.  I bought tickets for the 2 of us to see Sesame Street Live on New Years Eve and was debating about even that--he'll be 3 in February.  I can't tell you how it went, unfortunately, because I was too sick to go.  I guess it depends on the child, but I can tell you without a doubt that my oldest would not have been able to sit still or enjoy a live show at 21 months or even 2.

  • We took DD to Mickey's Magic Show in November, she was about 20 months. She did ok, it was about a 1 1/2 - 2 hour show. She would watch a little then try to escape. She liked having her own seat - up and down, up and down. That is who DD is though - she can only sit for so long, she is always on the go. I plan on taking her to the circus in 2 weeks, I think she might be better and would enjoy it. I say go if you would like to but don't be upset if you must leave.
