I've never taken a rectal temp. only reason I would ever do it rectal is if I thought the fever might be dangerously high, 104+ DS had a temp hovering aroudn 102/103 for 3 days and the doctor only did it rectally after the third full day. It was 102.8 on the forehead and 103 rectally. so, IMO it's not really necessary to do if they just feel a little warm.

this is the one we have but I didn't get it from Land of Nod, I believe my husband got it at Walmart. It works great, takes about 3 seconds to get a temp. you just have to make sure its flat against the head because even a little space you get a much lower temp.

Re: Temperature
Can I ask what type of thermometer you have?
