First Monday of 2011

How are you all doing?  Is the holiday madness over at your house?  Life returning to normal?

After two lovely short work weeks I have a full five days in front of me this week. :-p  Family have all returned to the west coast and the house is slowly getting put back together.  It was wonderful having people visit but part of me is ready to get back into my routine with Jelly Bean.

Oh and speaking of JB - she crawled forward for the first time last night!  Baby girl has been pushing and scooting her way around rooms for weeks now but never up on her knees going forward.  Guess it's time to get a baby gate for the stairs :-p

Re: First Monday of 2011

  • Way to go JB!

I went back to work last night after two weeks off. Carol went back today. It is nice to know that things are going back to normal, but I really wish we would just win the lottery and could spend more time together as a family.

I am a little mixed about 2011. I will be turning 40 this year and I am not sure how I feel about that. We have a lot of things happening in the family this year that I am having truoble dealing with as well.

Guess we will just see how the year pans out.

  • Go JB!

We started off the long weekend with a kid randomly getting sick in our bed on Friday morning and ended the weekend with the other kid getting randomly sick last night at 6pm. For both kids, they got sick 1x and then were fine. Odd.

I worked all of last week (sans Friday) so it doesn't really feel like I have been out of the working loop too much. Today was the kids first day back to school - but during the break they went to their former school and to camp at our gym, so we didn't get much of a break from the routine.   And because Carter was up from 4a-5:15a this morning (bad dream?) I opted to let them sleep a bit longer and not wake them for school at our normal 6:15. The extra 30 minutes helped ease us into the first 5 day work week in awhile! :)

  • YAY, JB!

I'm not looking forward to a full week either, I could totally get used to short work weeks every week. we're slowly but surely getting back to normal, although yesterday was rough. the boy has 4 (yes FOUR) teeth coming in all at once, and he is miserable. he had a really low-grade fever and slept most of yesterday, but of course because he wasn't feeling well he had to be held at all. times. so, we stayed in our PJs all day and cuddled. I guess I can't really complain about that. it made for quite a long night for me, though, since he woke a couple of times in need of some soothing.

  • We found out that neither of our TTC attempts worked.. :(  I had really hoped we would begin 2011 on with a baby on the way... but..no.  It didn't help getting my cousins email showing picture after picture her beautiful brand-spanking new baby boy, (they named him Hugo - how awfully cute is that?!), she received through adoption on New years day.. I am so happy for them I really, really am.  They are a beautiful couple with lots of love to give (he is infertile) but uggg.... it is hard not to be jealous... and then my colleague ran into my office, (opening my office door.. literally, moments after I discovered my period) and went on and on about her nephew's wife getting pregnant and 'They weren't even trying!' I couldn't help it and started crying...hard.   Which means my colleagues now know I am trying... awesome.  cue the annoying girl down the hall that screams about her baby's accomplishments every hour or so.. I am shutting my door for the remainder of the day...

    (YAY, JB!!)

  • Am I the only SAHM on the board? Confused  It seems like everyone is talking about going back to work and here I am sitting at home.

I've been sick for almost a week now.  I decided to stay home on NYE which caused a big fight between J and I.  I'm glad I decided to stay home though, I really needed the rest.  We skipped the Rose Parade the next morning thinking it was going to rain, it turned out to be really nice at the parade though.  Oh well.  We decided to go to Knott's Berry Farm instead and picked up our niece and SIL on the way.  It was dead at the park and the girls were able to get on the rides easily.  I was stuffed up but made it through the day just fine.

A friend of mine was induced at 32 weeks on the 28th because her blood pressure couldn't be stabilized, both she and baby Emma are doing well.  Emma is in the NICU for observation but is breathing on her own, she was 3lb 13oz and 15in at birth.  Please keep her in your thoughts.

  • Jean - Ugh! So sorry - what a terrible way to start the week!

  • Wow! way to go JB! how is she old enough to be crawling already??

I'm excited for 2011. I need a new start desperately and to shed some baggage of 2010. Life has been so wild the past 2 months, I'm ready to settle back into routines and our new normal. I'm hoping this is the year that brings permanency for all of us!

  • Yay crawling JB!!!

Life returns to normal tonight when I pick up DD and we start into our first full week back on the normal routine. It's been a busy couple of weeks with family and friends. 2010 started out on the rough side but ended very bright. I am looking forward to 2011 and hoping it will bring continued happiness.

  • Great work Jellybean.

Today was ok.  The kids were good but I def. was not ready to go back to school.  E transitioned back to daycare great and the day went quickly.  I wish I could stay home too but I have another week off in 7 weeks but who is counting.  I can not wait to be off for the summer.  It is going to be great.

Butterfly I am sorry your friend had to deliver early.  Glad to hear that the baby is holding her/his own.  If your friend would like to email or speak with me about having a preemie pm me and I can give you my contact info.  Also I belong to a wonderful community of preemie moms on a private board started by a bumpie.  Please have her visit thepreemiepalace.com it is a great support system and I would not have been able to get through the last 17 months without them.  Between all of us we have been through eveything on the preemie checklist and have mom's 23-34 weekers.  Also if you need ideas on how to support her while her lo is in the nicu (which will probably be around her due date about 8 weeks) let me know.
