Eff

In 4 years of working here I have never been late. Ever. Normally I am here 15-20 min before my shift every.day. For some reason my alarm did not go off today. No clue why. It was set correctly and everything. It's the same alarm I use every work day, and I have never had an issue with it before. Except for some unkown readon, today it didn't go off. I woke up 10 min before I was supposed to be here. Needless to say I was late. Only 8 minutes, but still.

Co-Irker #1 already has it out for me, and when I called in to say I'd be late he was all "Well, hurry up" No $hit sherlock, of course I am going to be in a hurry to get here. I just know he is going to be complaining to our boss as soon as he walks in the door.

On top of the argument with M yesterday, this is not how I wanted to started the new year, or my work week.

Oh, and I was in such a hurry to leave I didn't grab anything for breakfast or lunch, so I will be here for 12 hours with nothing to eat, and no coffee either. Awesome.

Re: Eff

  • First off, did you guys make up yesterday?

Secondly, it happens to the best of us. Since you are always on time it won't be a big deal. I am the same way though. I get physically ill if I am going to be late for something lol. Also, don't you get a break or something where you can run out for something to eat? What do you do?

  • Ugh!! That sucks:( But 8 minutes is nothing. Some people are that late every day. They need to give you a break! I hope your day/year gets better and you get some food. I don't think people would want to be around me if I went that long without food:/

Nope. He fell asleep during the football game and was snoring on the couch, so I went to bed. I have a feeling this issue will not be resolved for a while, unfortunately.

I hate being late. Where I work, if you are late it goes in your personnel file. I work for the city, so things are pretty strict. We are not usually allowed to leave during the work day. I could order takeout (the only thing that delivers around here is pizza and chinese) and my New Year's resolution was no fast food/processed food....so I'm kinda screwed.

  • 8 minutes. Your co-worker is pi$$ed about 8 f'in minutes. Wow. What a douche. I think everyone is entitled to an occasional alarm mix up. It happens to everyone!

  • I'm impressed that you woke up and got to work in 18 minutes. Screw the co-worker...it happens.

Yup! He is also the same one who went to our union rep and wanted to file a grievance against me because I legitimately used sick leave and he had to cancel 2 hours of his vacation and work the last 2 hours of his shift to cover for me being out....He is a peach.

  • Do you use your iphone as your alarm  Apparently there was a glitch that the first alarm set during the new year does not work!  I'm serious, it was on the news and happened to me, too!

It happened to me this morning too! Thank goodness my body woke up on it's own. I double checked my alarm and everything, then I saw it on the news. Your co-worker sounds like a douche bag and I am sorry :(.

I just saw the story on MSN. I am totally printing it out and giving it to my boss as my excuse :)

  • Our alarm didn't go off either. I was 30 minutes late and nobody is here to tell on me. I'm also on salary and they can tell all they want.

As for your co-irker, he needs to get a life. 8 minutes is nothing and at work we have a "15 minute" grace period that everyone takes full advantage of. I'm a always on time and I hate being late. 75% of my office can care less about being late.

It totally sucks, but everyone here cares. We work 12 hour shifts, so really, no one wants to stay past 12 hours. The thing that sucks though is normally I am 10-15 min or more early every day. No one remembers that though the one time you are a few minutes late. We can even get written up for being in the building at start of shift, but not ready to plug in and take over for someone.
