First for our house

Until today, we have not had a positive test for flu. Miss T has flu & strep. Hopefully she will feel better by her bday. She even had her flu shot. Has anyone had any experience with Tamiflu? They prescribed it but the age is one year and up. I just worry because T is little for her age.

Re: First for our house

  • Flu and strep! Oh, wow, double whammy.

For baby no, for me yes, I was prescribed Tamiflu and it was amazing. If I was late for a dose, I knew because I started to feel icky within a few hours - so it's definately doing it's job keeping the viral load down so I could fight it off with less *work*. If she is close to her her bday, I would not worry, esp. since the pedi is fine with it.

GL and I sure hope she feels better soon, esp. with her party coming up!

  • OMG! Scary! I have no advice but ope she feels better soon.
  • No advice for your LO (although after tomorrow we'll see, since L has had a viral bug for over a week and I'm going back in to ask them to check for flu) but like the pp I had to take Tamiflu (had H1N1 while I was pregnant) and it was a miracle worker!

  • I am a biochemist. If she has flu and was prescribed Tamiflu I would start with it ASAP. I would be more afraid of flu complications than side effect of the drug. She is practically 1 y.o. so the lowest dose should be safe for her. Hope she feels better soon!

  • It was some nasty stuff but we got a dose down. She was so upset when we first tried that she ending up throwing it up. Luckily, it's only a twice a day thing.

  • Poor baby!  I hope she feels better soon.  And I've known some other babies on tamiflu and it's been fine.  She's pretty close to the year mark and usually dosage is based on weight anyway, not age.  Left Hug
