setting up crib into full size bed

We are in the process of moving and when we move into the new house I would like to set DD's crib up into a full size bed with rails. Only now am I realizing that I need a frame to make this happen.  I went to the company website and the crib we purchased (Basset, Southampton) is no longer available.  I plan on calling the company tomorrow to see what the chances are we can still get a frame for this.  Anyone else run into this issue or am I the only one clueless enough to think this far ahead until too late! Sad

    Just go to Big Lots and buy a bed frame.  I think they are only like $40.

    can you just use any frame?  it doesn't have to be the one that comes with the crib?

    We just bought a full-size frame at a mattress store when we converted Lilah's bed.  It worked just fine!
    I don't know what's up with my siggy and I am too lazy to figure it out.

    Are you talking about the rails to convert it? If so, definitely call the company and see what they say. If it's just the bed frame (like the metal pieces? is that what the pp is talking about?), then you can get any... but w/ our crib, you didn't need a frame, just the rails to convert it (since you need something to hold the 2 ends together), then the mattress sits on the wood pieces that you put across the rails (or you can put the box spring directly on the rails but we thought that made the bed too high).

    I thought that most convertible cribs converted to a toddler daybed by taking off the front panel, then a full size bead headboard. I assumed that you'd attach the back panel of the crib to any normal full sized bed frame at that point. I wasn't aware that any part of the crib could be converted to rails (as in something along the side to prevent the child from rolling out). But I might be wrong. :)
