But, I am. Last night at work (I work in a NICU) I was feeding a baby and felt a small gush and then steady trickle of fluid. My heart started pounding that my water had broke!
I finished with the babe, ran to the bathroom and called a coworker and told her "I either just pee'd myself of my water broke". Another coworker went with me to L&D upstairs and I figured I'd get an exam, hooked up to monitors - the whole works. But, since I wasnt quite sure, and was only having a few random drops here and there still - they just had me swipe with some paper that changes color according to what fluid touches it. Result = not amniotic fluid, thus = Pee!
Needless to say I was absolutely mortified. On the way up to L&D I was thinking about how my lower back had been hurting yesterday, was crampy and overall just didn't feel good. I was convinced that I was in labor! Then, with this peeing myself episode, and with some looks in the mirror, I realized that LO had apparently just dropped at some point yesterday. Duh! Won't make that mistake again, I hope! ![]()
