January 2011 Moms

I never thought I'd be THAT pregnant lady.

But, I am. Last night at work (I work in a NICU) I was feeding a baby and felt a small gush and then steady trickle of fluid.  My heart started pounding that my water had broke!

I finished with the babe, ran to the bathroom and called a coworker and told her "I either just pee'd myself of my water broke".  Another coworker went with me to L&D upstairs and I figured I'd get an exam, hooked up to monitors - the whole works. But, since I wasnt quite sure, and was only having a few random drops here and there still - they just had me swipe with some paper that changes color according to what fluid touches it. Result = not amniotic fluid, thus = Pee!

Needless to say I was absolutely mortified. On the way up to L&D I was thinking about how my lower back had been hurting yesterday, was crampy and overall just didn't feel good.  I was convinced that I was in labor! Then, with this peeing myself episode, and with some looks in the mirror, I realized that LO had apparently just dropped at some point yesterday. Duh! Won't make that mistake again, I hope! Stick out tongue

  • You poor thing.  I guess if you've never experienced it, you'd have no way of really knowing.  Hey, at least you were really close to L&D.  Hang in there!!

  • My coworkers were all really nice about it and we had a pretty good chuckle throughout the rest of the shift.  And yes, it's really nice going to work knowing that I'm only a few floors away from L&D! DH likes it too Yes

  • Lol I totally did that except mine was with a really weird migraine when I worked CICU. My coworkers wouldn't even let me walk over to L & D. I felt like such an ass getting wheeled over at 3am just to be fine 30 min later Embarrassed

  • This is too funny! I haven't had a complete PEE episode (yet) but I'm sure it's par for the course. Good thing you didn't do it at home, drag your H all the way to the hospital, then find out it was pee! It could have been worse. lol
