Just curious. Our first appt. is tomorrow, and it is too late for me to call their office and ask. It seems to be pretty standard, from what I have read on here.
It depends on whether your OB has one in their office. Do you know that they do? Many women are given prescriptions to go for an u/s at a radiology office.
ETA: If your Dr. has one, I don't see why they wouldn't do an u/s. At 8 weeks, you'll be able to see a lot.
We didn't we don't get one until we are 16 weeks, at our first appt they just asked thousands of medical history questions and give me a lot of information. We get a doppler and pelvic at our next appointment when I am 12 weeks. BUT I was spotting around Christmas so I had an ultrasound and got to see my bean. Although, every clinic is different. Good luck at your appointment!
My dr's office won't see you until you are at least 8 weeks to ensure they can see something on the ultrasound, but I have heard of other offices bringing you in earlier and not doing the ultrasound until later on.

Nope, I don't. If all goes as planned the only ultrasound I will get is the anatomy one at week 18. That's standard practice for my doctor. If I do get more than one ultrasound it means there is a problem, so I'm only hoping for one!

This is how it was for my son, though we had a screening at 11 weeks so had a quick one then.
I didn't. I was about 8 weeks along. I wasn't going to get one at 12 weeks either but they couldn't find the heart beat on the doppler so they sent us over for an ultrasound.
I did not have one with my 1st or this pregnancy. I only had an u/s because of bleeding at 10 weeks. It is not medically necessary if you already know how far along you are.
You should have an ultrasound, it's the best way (besides LMP) to see how far along you are based off the size of the little one. I have my first appt tomorrow too... I'm SO EXCITED!

My doctor doesn't do one at the first appt unless you have a problem or history of miscarriage. Our first appt is at 8 weeks, and then my next appt I will have an ultrasound.
The only reason for my 6 week ultra sound was because I had ZERO idea how far along I was because of my irregular periods . I thought I was 8 I was like 4 lol .
most of the women you see getting early u/s are seeing RE's or have had losses. It is not standard practice to do more than one u/s at most places. There are always some offices whose practices are different, obviously, but in most cases the anatomy scan is the only u/s given.
I wish I only had one. I'll have more because of my loss. But I would do pretty much anything to be back in the only needing one camp.

I did not have an ultrasound at either the first or second visits. We're pretty sure my due date is accurate and my dr. said that as long as everything remains low risk and healthy, I'll likely only have one ultrasound around 20 weeks.
Re: Did anyone NOT get an ultrasound at first Dr. appt?
