Random HSG question

So I have my HSG scheduled for this Thursday. Not really nervous about it, just really looking forward to getting some answers. However, I have been thinking about it a lot and how it works. And here is where I got my random question from...

Does the dye that they "insert" in, come back out? As in, do I need to wear a pantyliner for afterwords? (Or am I overthinking this way too much...)

It depends. Yes, I would bring a pad. I had some leakage but it wasn't too bad. Most of the dye goes back up into your body and is absorbed. However, if your tubes are blocked or there is an issue than there would be more leakage as it stays in your uterus...

It's different for everyone but yes, bring a pad.

Not a random question! You will prob want to bring a pad with you for afterwards. My RE had them there, but I brought my own. You may also want to take Advil or Tylenol beforehand for any cramping. GL!

YES!! bring a pad, I leaked a lot. Wore a pad for that afternoon and then pantyliners for the next 4 days. I too would suggest taking advil or tylenol before hand. The good thing about the HSG is that it is relatively quick. GL to you!

Thanks for your help ladies! I am having it done at the radiology department of our local hospital, so I am not sure they will have pads on hand. I will just take a pantyliner beforehand and hope for the best!

This is the week for answers for us. DH's SA results should be ready tomorrow...and my HSG is Thursday. Here's to getting some answers!
