I woke up at 5 a.m. with contrax, and they've been on and off all day. They pick up in a pattern and then just stop. I have pelvic pressure and menstrual like cramping.
When my OB's office was supposed to open this morning (8:30 a.m.) I called and found out they're closed for the holiday, so I hung up and decided to ride it out. By 1:30 I was still contracting and cramping, so I called the on-call doc.
He said I'm gearing up and my body is getting ready and to call him back if my contrax are more patterned 5-10 mins apart.
So of course now I'm all excited and anxious. I feel like this could go on for days though. If you went into labor on your own, how quickly did you go from random contractions to something with a definite pattern?
I'll be so sad if I make it to my regularly scheduled appointment on Wednesday!
Re: talk to me if you went into labor on your own
I had contractions on and off starting right around 37w. Sometimes they would be fairly regular for about an hour but then peter out again. I never went into active labor on my own; made it to my scheduled induction at 37w6d.
Hopefully you can last a few more days and make it to full-term!
I had a c as you know, but SQUEE...... I am SO excited for you!!!! LOVE ya!!
ETA: I have to add that my contrax did end me up in the hospital at 36 weeks 5 days, but my cervix was not progressing and since I was having a scheduled c a week later, we just went for it. My contrax were more regular and it was not on-off.
this doesn't really help but I've been having the same "symptoms" for a week now, even contractions as close to 2-3 minutes apart for HOURS! I was last checked Monday and still 2cm dilated and 75% effaced, and not in active labor! It's really annoying but for me I'm not even 35 weeks yet so I'm hoping to last a couple more weeks.
Good luck to you!!
I woke up at 1am to pee and my water broke with a pop and a gush on the toilet....
but I know lots of friends who have started like you described, and many of them had contractions like that come and go for a while. One of them said her midwife suggested a glass of wine and a warm bath to slow it down. If it was the real thing, it would usually keep going. If it was just going to be annoying forever, it would stop it/lessen the intensity. Definitely sounds like things are happening. Come on 2010!
this has seriously been so annoying! I go through a nice long spell where the contractions start to get closer, we get to like 15 mins apart and then done. Bah. Come on babies, come OUT.
I'm so excited and anxious.
