I make a 6 oz bottle when DS wakes up, but he only takes 4 oz and I use the last 2 oz to make his oatmeal. Same with his Lunch. Then he takes about 4 oz at 4 pm, then dinner at 5-6 pm, then he takes a 6 oz at bedtime. I feel like he isnt eating enough formula and would rather eat his food. Maybe I am feeding him too much food and should scale back on food so he eats more formula, because if you do count the formula I use in his cereal hes only getting 22 oz, which isn't enough for a 7 month old (says my book) What do you guys think?
Oh and DS is 90% weight and 99% weight so he's not small by any means!
He also fights the bottle, only takes about an ounce before he has to sit up and look around then he decides to lay back down and drink more...he is very busy.
WOW sorry so long...but DH says I am driving him crazy...our Pedi says hes fine but he is a little too laid back in my opinion!
Re: Does the formula you use in cereal count?
I was wondering this myself! My DS has VERY similar percentiles to yours too. We WERE doing 3 solids a day, but I was also concerned about how little the formula intake became. Pedi said to try 2 meals a day instead. I still don't feel like DS takes much more formula. Plus, when he teethes, he can get real picky about drinking a bottle. Lately he's chewing the sh!t out of everything, and playing.
I read someplace that by 8 months, they really should be having 3 meals a day. I feel like I'm so NOT on a schedule with him, but I have TRIED!!
I know he's healthy, and happy. But I swear, sometimes I feel so clueless with this whole feeding schedule.
Thank you for sharing this. My LO is doing this exact thing and it is stumping me. I have been adding more formula to his cereal to up his oz/day.
Yes. It does. We have a little peanut as I was told to mix powder into all her meals.
The easy formula to use is that the baby needs 50 calories per pound per day.
