Today is our first day home from the hospital. I didn't have a computer with me so the girls on the FB group have been updated but I couldn't get to TB until now. I woke up Tuesday with cramping & back pain that would not go away but didn't really think much of it since I had been having that kind of pain for a while. I had a 39 week appointment that morning and was a little discouraged because I showed little progress from 2 weeks prior - I went from 2cm to 3cm dilated but that's it. I pretty much figured that I would go past my due date at that point. I continued to have cramping & back pain all day so I decided to clean my house top to bottom just in case my pain was a sign of early labor so I could try and help it along. Around 8pm I started to have what I think were contractions so I started timing. They were very spread out and only had 4 in 1 hour. I decided that if I was beginning to have labor contractions it would take awhile for them to get closer together and also figured they were just another case of random contractions that would go away, just like they have before. So I went to bed around 9. At 9:45 I felt a pop in my vagina, I jumped out of bed ust in time for my water to break. I then ran to the bathroom just in time for the bloody show to begin. So DH and I went to the hospital. I was only 3 &1/2 cm dilated when we were admitted and thought that we'd have a long night ahead of us. About an hour and a half after being admitted my contractions got way too intense so I asked for an epi. Once I got the epi my OB came in and checked me and was 5 & 1/2 cm. He told me to get some rest and that it would probably take an hour per cm. 1 hour later the pressure from contractions were way too intense so the nurse asked for my OB to come in again and check my progress...sure enough I was 10cm dilated and ready to push. DH and I were shocked because we were not expecting progression to go by so quickly. I pushed for 50 minutes and Ryan Patrick was here. From the time my water broke I was in labor for 5 hours and 45 minutes and unfortunetly had to get an episiomity because my skin wasn't streching fast enough. Ryan had to spend an extra night in the hospital due to jaundice but we are all home now!
Re: Ryan Patrick is here!
So glad both of you are home & he is here! Congrads!
Congrats!!
I'm curious. Everyone has told me since I've been very active that this could produce a faster birthing process. Were you active during your pregnancy?
Wow congratulations!! What a short L&D!
I didn't get an episiostomy but got a 2nd degree tear. Healing has been great, although the first time I took a shower and physically felt the swelling, I was like WTF?! haha then DH told me it was worst than that the first few hours after delivery. Hope you have a quick recovery!
Yes I was very active. I worked out until the beginning of my third tri and then in my third tri I walked alot - including on my treadmill for 30 minutes sometimes a week before giving birth.
Wow! That was fast!
Glad you're all home now! Congratulations!
