? For The Hospital

For those of you planning on using a shower at the hospital for pain relief, what will you be wearing? Should I bring a bathing suit? I dont think I would be quite comfortable showering completely naked, but I guess once I'm in labor I most likely wont care whose looking at my business anyways.

Re: ? For The Hospital

  • I'm not planning on using a shower but I will tell you this....the LAST thing you're going to want to do is squeeze yourself into a bathing suit while you are in labor.  I think your guess is right on - you will likely not give a crap about who sees what at that point.

  • I'm not sure if I'll be using the shower but I plan on using the tub and I have a bikini top packed so that I'm at least partially covered. The bottoms seem useless because I'm guessing they'll be checking my progress often enough that wearing them would be silly but that's just my thought...
  • lol with my first one I had so many people looking at my "parts" (doctors and nurses and such) it really didn't matter what was going on I wanted to get comfortable. Also, the husband was there, so I really wasn't worried about anything happening to me
  • I plan on being in the tub and just packed a couple of sports bras and tanks.

  • I just asked DH what I wore while laboring in the shower last time, and neither one of us has any recollection whatsoever. I vaguely remember packing a swimsuit top (like a sports-bra style) but I really don't think I even opened my bag... it all happened so fast. I'm going to guess I just took everything off... either way, I definitely do not remember caring what I looked like.
  • DH has his own swim trunks packed just in case I need help in there. I'd much rather have the staff see my lady bits than walk in on us both naked in the shower! LOL

  • DH is bringing swim trunks, and I packed a black sports bra and black "boy-shorts" underwear for myself.  I have no idea if I'm even going to care about wearing them, but I have them just in case.  The boy shorts are really easy to get in and out of and I like that they're black so they'll hide stains :)

  • I plan on using the shower, but I'm not taking anything to wear in it. If I need help getting out or anything, DH can help me. And I don't think I'll care what the nurses see at that point.

  • You probably won't want one, but make sure your DH brings one.  An old coworker of mine did not have one when his wife was in labor, nor did he have a change of clothes, so he wound up soaked.

If you don't want to be naked, you can probably just wear an old T-shirt of your DH's or something similiar.
