I am joined to a local gym but I can't go at night anymore because then I'm up until 11pm! Plus if I take LO, their daycare area sucks!
I don't know if I should quit and find a nicer gym with a better daycare? I just need 3-4 days per week, one hour a day. What do you recommend I do?
I can't get family to watch DS, because DH gets home soooo late working 12-14 hour shifts that start at 5:30a, and its too hard to secure time with other family members to watch DS.
Re: Should I Find A New Gym?
Do you have any options to workout at home? There are tons of fantastic workout DVD's on the market now and as long as you do them consistently you'll definitely see results!
The problem w/finding a better gym is that you may find you'll be paying more $. I guess you just have to decide which works better for you--good luck!
I agree with PP. You could also be looking at a large fee for breaking your contract if you signed one. Ultimately, if that gym doesn't work for you, if fitness is an important part of your life, and you absolutely can't workout at home or outside, you'll need to find another gym.
This might make me sound preachy (which is not my intention), but I think that fitness is always a great investment because you are ultimately investing in yourself. There are plenty of effective workouts you can do with some free weights, a step, and your own body, and the right DVD's that will help keep you healthy and smokin' hot. When I was was in your position (minus the baby part), I started to buy bits and pieces of fitness equipment, and over time, I have amassed enough pieces that I literally have a personal gym in my basement. It took time, but it's been worth it, especially when the weather is crappy.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Yes, I was in your same situation last year and wished that I had made the change sooner. We switched gyms this summer to a more family friendly club. The new club is much more than a gym - it has baby and me classes, a great daycare included in the price that requires reservations to prevent an overflow, an indoor and outdoor pool area, a full service restaurant, smoothie bar, family nights, etc. It is double the price of our old gym but so worth it. My husband also works long hours and many weekends. This membership has saved my sanity. I typically go 5-6 times a week, whereas I only went once a week before and felt so guilty leaving my daughter in a subpar daycare facility.
