Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Have you been to Times Square for the ball drop on New Years?

My answer-  I used to go every year in high school with friends - it was kind of the thing to do but now it's all tourists and the security is so strict (you can't leave and just walk around) I have no interest in going again.

By the way- what is wrong with this picture?  My 3 year old son is still up - wide awake running around- and my 5 month old just woke up for a feeding...but my dh is passed out already!   Married with kids is so different that my old New Years but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

  • I did special snowflake. We went in 2006. Got there at 6pm stood in the freaking freezing cold smashed in a huddle with a bunch of other people for an hour. Decided we'd much rather watch the ball drop from our warm hotel room on TV so all our friends went back there and got wasted.

  • Omg talk about chaos! I used to go when I was younger too. I look at all those fools on tv and think, I will never go again. Back then I had "liquid balls" as DH use to call them, lol, and would do anything... Not so much anymore!!!
  • I went my senior year in high school (or maybe freshman in college) anyways, it really wasn't what I thought it would be....it kinda sucked.....so don't think I will ever be going back. However, I do like watching it on TV.
  • I've been about 20 minutes away from it my whole life but I never in a million years would go.

  • Yes, I did it twice.  We took the LIRR and got to Penn around 11-ish and then walked over to Times Square.  This was back in the mid-90's when there was NO security.  We were all pretty wasted both by the time we got there.  The bathroom situation was pretty awful even though my friends and I only spent about an hour or so out there.  I never understood those people that spent hours and hours waiting.  That's nuts!

  • nope and I never, ever want to!

I lived in NYC and saw the tree being lit and the Macy's Day parade...once!  I never need to attend either of those events again.  Not only is it a madhouse, but like you said the security is ridiculous at NYC events.  The ball dropping is an awesome sight from my living room or a big TV in a bar.

  • HEEEEEELLLL NO!!!!!!!!!! I live in NYC and I stay inside that day. Even before I had a baby. I have been to Times Square during that time because I had reservations at a restaurant & it was kind of fun but to stand out there in that crowd sounds like a nightmare. Where to pee? Think about how long it takes to get out of there w/ all the people and the roads blocked off. Sounds like something that sounds fun but sucks really bad when executed. And I've never been tot he Macy's day parade either!!
