If you use a swaddleme...

C is getting too strong for a swaddle just using blankets. I am going to buy 1 or 2 swaddleme blankets. My question is, how do you dress your LO for bed if you use these? They seem to be thicker than regular blankets. Right now we put C in a long sleeve/footed PJ and then swaddle. If I get the cotton ones, would this still be OK? Or too warm??

I was interested in the fleece ones too for the winter, but fear she may get overheated since she tends to do so very easily. If we did use the fleece, I'm sure she would just wear a white onesie under instead.

Just looking for some insight and what some of you do. Thanks!

Re: If you use a swaddleme...

  • We LOVE the swaddleme blankets!  We dress DS in footed cotton pj's then put him in the swaddleme.  Also, we tuck a blanket around him from the shoulders down.  We live in a cold climate and our house is kinda drafty... when he wakes to eat if he feels too warm I ditch the extra blanket.

  • Luke uses the fleece swaddle mes with only a onsie and socks on. He still wakes up a little warm. For the cotton swaddle mes we use a cotton light weight sleeper.

But we are gonna try to break him of the swaddle this week because he keeps breaking free of them. I woke up twice this week and hes busted out and cold. So I said no more.

  • Thanks ladies. I think I will stick with the cotton ones and then get fleece if I feel she needs it.

MamaLBF - I am around about the same area as you, so I know we could probably use the same scenario. Thanks!

  • Personally, I don't like the fleece swaddlemes (she sweats a TON). LOVE the cotton ones, though.  If she's sleeping in her crib, I just use a cotton sleeper underneath.  If I'm holding her, I'll just use a onesie because she gets hot easily.

  • We use fleece sleepers under the cotton swaddleme or a cotton sleeper under a fleece swaddle.

  • We live in Austin so we're in a fairly warm climate. We use cotton footed PJ's (mainly carters brand) and the swaddle me with no problems. I've put DS in flannel ones and he just seems to hot but then again we live in a warmer climate and I keep the house warmer than most.

  • Same here.  Since he is swaddled and warm we don't use any extra blankets.

Ps. Walmart had summer infant swaddlemeson sale

    awesome thanks!!?

  • I love the swaddleme's and so does DD. I just bought her the large size (witch I finally found at toys r us)

We live in Iowa and I just put her in cotton PJs with a cotton swaddle me. She tends to get warm pretty easily. I don't know how much your LO weighs, but I would recommend the large swaddle me if approaching 14lbs or so. DD was busting at the seems in the s/m swaddle me!

    Hope this helps!

Thanks! We have a size s/m now that we never really used because she used to despise a swaddle. Since we started doing it again, I forgot I had it until yesterday, and she definitely needs the large now. The s/m will be pushing it the next few days until I get the new size.?

We use fleece sleepers under the cotton swaddleme or a cotton sleeper under a fleece swaddle.

This is exactly what we do.

I just bought one of each in a size large. She's busting out of the small/medium, but swimming in the large right now which I think is contributing to our sleep problems....

  • we have the cotton ones. annnnnd we couldnt live without them! he's been sttn ever since we started swaddling again. amen. we just put him in cotton footed pajamas underneath, sometimes fleece, but most of the time cotton.
