I am scheduled to have my first appt on Tuesday. I will be 9w5d and was really hoping to see my little peanut

My doctor said that they only do ultrasounds at 20w or if any problems occur. How many u/s have you ladies had?

Re: How many u/s did you have?
I will have more this pregnancy because of my previous loss.
I had one with DD, at 20 weeks.
I would love to be in the "only needing one" category again.
I've had 3 so far but I'm high risk.
Non-high risk pregnancies usually only have one or two the entire pregnancy.
So far with this pregnancy I have only had one at 6 weeks to check for dates. They offer another at about 15 weeks to check for spina bifida(i think) and the fuild in the back of the neck which could mean a possibility of down syndrome. Other than that I have no idea how many more I will have.
With DS I had a bunch done because they need to keep an eye on the placement of my placenta. It was partially covering my cervix. Which I was told is not uncommon and I guess most of the time it fixes itself as you get further along. As in my case.
Sorry for rambling.

Wow...I guess it's obvious how far into the IF world I've gotten...I had no idea that most pregnancies only have a few u/s through the whole pregnancy. We've had two already one at 6w6d and at 7w5d. I'll have a third this coming tues at 9w3d. These have all been with my RE. Then the following week when I finally "graduate" to my OB, I should have a 4th.
No idea how many I should expect after that...I guess that's a good question to ask!
It is really common to have only one ultrasound at 18-20 weeks. Consider it a good thing that is all you need. That means you are having a healthy pregnancy with no problems.
I know it sucks to read about everyone having early ultrasounds, because who wouldn't want to see their baby?
I had a recent loss so I'll be going in next week for my first u/s, then I hopefully wont have one till 20 weeks.
I've had five so far. I have one every week.
If I were having a "normal" pregnancy I would have had one around 6-7 weeks to check for a heartbeat, then the NT scan at 11 weeks (I'm 39) and then another around 18 weeks.
I wish I were having a "normal" pregnancy.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

If your doctor has any reason to suspect multiples, they most likely will do an u/s to make sure. And they will be able to make sure your pregnancy is progressing normally without one.
So far this pregnancy, I had my first u/s at 6w6d due to spotting and am scheduled for my second at 12 weeks for my NT scan. I'll have another around 20 weeks for the growth scan and another around 36 weeks.
