Anyone do Kindermusic with their LO?

If so, what do you think about it?  I'm considering doing it because Eliana LOVES music and dancing, but I don't want to plunk down $200 if it sucks.  I keep going back and forth.  Any thoughts?

  • I've done a few classes with DD (peak a boo, sign and sing) and she loves it. I love the KM teacher we have. Now that she's a little older I feel she's getting more out of it. The signing has been great since she's not a big talker and it allows her to communicate with us quite a bit. Most places will let you check out a class before deciding and since the teacher really makes the difference (IMO) I'd highly recommend doing that.

  • We did a mini session that was about 7 classes. DD was 16 mos when we started so she was one of the oldest ones in the class. She oftened wandered around the room (along with the other kids) and was more interested in eating her snack than dancing/singing. She did start getting more into it during the last class or two. She did always love the movement activities though. And I really loved getting out with her and getting to know other moms.

The session we did wasn't as pricey as the next one (it's $250 in my area!) but I think we're going to do it again. The teacher was amazing and said that DD can either stay in the younger class or move up, so we're going to try the next class and move her back if she seems overwhelmed by the older kids. I honestly wasn't going to do it because it is so expensive and there's no guarantee DD will be interested in more than her crackers once again, but I will need something to do with her this winter and I really like the moms that I met as well as the teacher we're with. DH kind of pushed me to do it again because he really wants me to meet other moms (and he had fun attending one of her classes :) )

I know that there is sometimes a preview class offered, so maybe you can do that before deciding? I wish it weren't so expensive, since I'm not sure it's worth THAT much, but it was good enough that I'm willing to pay :)

  • We've been doing for about 10 months now and love it.  We have an awesome teacher who is so much fun and very inactive with the kids.  DD has a great time there and I think smiles throughout the whole thing.  It's a little pricey but I think its worth it.

  • Most places will let you do a trial class, so I would try that if you have doubts. My babies really like it, we've done 3 semesters, took this semester off b/c it is expensive. It's been worth the $$ just for the CD's they gave us though, we have done a lot of road trips this year and if they start having a melt down, we put in one of the CD's and they quiet right down...its like magic! If nothing else, its been a really good way for us to meet other kids their age

  • DS is about to finish his first "semester" of KM -village, he is in a very small class which i know is not typical. Village is from newborn-18months and we pretty much have that age range. Most activites are done with the parents, though the teacher does have playtime for the LOs as well. They play with some instruments, scarves, balls, various things that help with their various learning components like their fine motor skills and such. DS really enjoys it and has also learned a lot just from the other children. As pp said about the CD, when DS hears certain songs on the cd he quiets right down.

This is the one we did too.  DS really enjoyed it, so that trumps me feeling silly doing some of the songs/dances etc.  He also quiets down when I put the CD on in the car.  If I were him, the clickety clack song probably would give me nightmares though.  Haha!

  • We've been doing it about 3 months now and my LO absolutly LOVES it. We take it at my gym and I pay 75.00 per month. One class per week.
