Anyone have an idea what a tux rental generally costs? DH is standing up in his brothers wedding and they asked $145 for the tux. Am I really cheap or does that sound like a lot?

That sounds about right. I think it was $99 for DH's groomsmen, but we got the absolute cheapest tux they had and I got a deal because we were getting so many tuxes. If you get a fancy vest or anything the price goes up.

Tux rentals can START as low as $59, but typically that only includes jacket, pants, and a basic (aka pleated) shirt. Some places it includes a vest and tie, but not all. If you have to pay for those, it typically adds about $35. Shoes are usually another $25 - $30, and the shirt upgrade to microfiber (what most people choose) is normally another $8 - $10. Add in sales tax and a not-optional damage waiver ($5 - $10) and it adds up quickly. It can be done for closer to $100, but I would say $130 - $150 is closer to average.
Oh, the joys of owning a bridal shop.

LOL I was going to ask how you knew all that!
It just seems like a lot to me. Obviously I'm not an expert at tux rentals, as I've never needed one I would need to look up our old wedding stuff but I swear we didn't ask our groomsmen to pay more than $100. Then again, we also paid a portion of everybody's.

The amount of basically-useless-on-an-everyday-basis information I have in my head is fairly ridiculous. And if I only had a penny for every time I hear "I CAN'T be that size" or "I'm going to lose weight, I promise, so the smaller size is okay", I'd treat us all to a round or two.

My brother just got married and they had basic tuxes for $150 from Men's Wearhouse. So yup that's right. Ours were $100 for our wedding too, but that was nearly 3 years ago.
Re: tuxedo rental cost?
hmmm...they went to Mens Warehouse and StepMIL says they picked the cheapest one available.
But then you go to the website and it says tuxes are from $59.99 to $149.99.
Whatever. Everything about this wedding annoys me.
