....do they ever run around the house and get into stuff in the middle of the night? I am scared about DS getting hurt or something while we are asleep. Any suggestions, experiences? TIA!
No he doesn't. I worried about the same thing too. He just comes directly to our room if he gets up in the middle of the night. He doesn't like to wander in the dark.
I used to live-in nanny for a family who's LO did that. She wouldn't really get into anything but several times someone got up in the middle of the night to find her sitting in the big lazy boy chair. One time I was getting something from the fridge and the chair at the kitchen desk started to slide out, scared the you know what out of me. She had decided to chill under the kitchen desk for a bit. She was around 2.5 and didn't do it for long. Maybe a month or 2. I'm still not sure she was really awake.
No, not ever in the middle of the night. Bedtime, however, has been a struggle (most nights. oddly enough not tonight ever since we switched DD1 out of her crib around 6 months ago. She also wakes up a good hour earlier then before, and at least once a week (usually more but it goes in phases) she'll climb into bed with us around 4am and I have to bring her back to her room... Don't know if it's an option for you, but my suggestion is to keep LO in a crib as long as possible!

DS rarely wakes up in the middle of the night since moving into the big bed. I put a string of bells on the outside of his door handle so I can hear him over if he gets up.
we still use the angelcare monitor on Griffin in his toddler bed - he has never once gotten out of his bed b/c he knows the alarm will go off if he does --- so it's worked great for us! We're sad that when we get his twin bed in March we can't use it... though we're thinking of telling him it's still working
We don't really have an issue with that, DD usually scoots to the foot of her bed and cries if she wakes up. But we have a gate to put up in the hallway outside her door if we feel the need. Or, if you're comfortable closing your LO's doror at night, you can do that with a door knob cover on the inside.
No. He comes straight to our room if he ever wakes up or when he wakes up in the morning. I usually hear him get up anyway - and if I don't, the dogs do and wake me up!
We put a gate on DS's door because our bedrooms are on the second floor and since he does not STTN at all we were worried he would wander down the stairs while still sleepy and get hurt.
i have a baby monitor in the room and a baby gate at the door because ds and my2 1/2 year old neice share a room and she knows how to open the door. if he wakes up at night (not very often) we go in and get him and put him back to sleep and move him back to his bed
