Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Seriously child, sleep!

I've been trying to get DD down since 3:30, that's 4 hours, she's been awake for 5 hours.  Everytime we try to put her to sleep she just screams.  When we get past the screaming and get her to sleep, she wakes up within 5 minutes.  DH and I are losing it.  I called the pedi's nurse line and am waiting for a call back, anyone have any idea what on earth could be going on with her?

Re: Seriously child, sleep!

  • Not sure what it could be besides the obvious (diaper change/rash, gas, reflux, colic, etc) but I'm sure you thought of just about everything. I hope your LO feels better and gets some sleep!

  • AT this point she might be overtired!  I don't really think there is anything serious to worry about but you can ask to be sure.  Is she running a fever or showing that she is uncomfortable or something is bothering her.  My guess is she is just having one of those days she doesn't want to go to sleep.

No fever.  She does have reflux, but it doesn't usually prevent her from sleeping.  I think she's trying to make us insane.  DH might have gotten her down, I'm crossing my fingers.

Like they say...that's why they make babies cute!  I hope your DH got her down too!  I am crossing my fingers for you.  I would say she is overtired.  When was the last time she had a BM?  If DD was extra fussy/screaming I always attributed it to gassy or constipation if she had not had a BM.

  • Do you live where it is warm enough for a stroller ride or a car ride.. poor baby.

Yeah she had a BM this afternoon so I don't think that's it.

This was DS today too. From 5pm on....up and crying. If he went to sleep he would spit up and then was up again. We were at friends for NYE and left at 11:30 because we couldn't take it anymore. Finally, the 30 min car ride put him to sleep and he has been down for 45 minutes, the longest he has sleep in the last 7 hours.

I felt like my kid was broken today.
