Grandma's want all of LO's pics...a little peeve -long

My mother and MIL want every single ever loving picture that I take of LO emailed to them, put on a  thumb drive, or printed for them. They are very excited and proud grandma's, I understand this and am thankful that they are this way but....

I have taken HUNDREDS of pics of LO since her birth and haven't even had time to print any for my own house or even organize them the way I need on my computer.I sometimes feel as if they forget I am trying to raise a very busy, high needs baby right now.  I send the mother's a few pics here and there to keep them partially satisfied and they take plenty of their own too but I simply don't have time to send every picture right now. I plan on making photo books for them once LO allows me the time to start them but right now she is my focus. I feel a little selfish too in the fact that I want some of those pics to be "just ours".

Anyway my peeve is that I get asked this of both mothers every time I see them and it puts pressure on me. I have enough to do right now. I can't even keep my house clean (yes I know I found the time to write this, but Bumpin is not a daily occurrence for me). I try to be nice by telling them that I will get them the pictures but feel like I am promising them something I can't deliver. Anyone else with this small dilemma?

  • What I did was create a picture account on sam's club and I upload the pictures there. That way my mom and MIL can log on and print whatever pictures they want. It only takes a few minutes to upload them, I just put them on Sam's at the same time I take them off my camera and put them on my computer. Just a though.. you could also use shutterfly or a place like that too.

  • I definitely understanding not having much time...

Could you ask one of them to watch your LO so you can do some of the picture organizing and printing??

I would LOOOVE for someone to be able to watch LO to allow me to take care of the pics but she won't stay with anyone. We've been called back to pick her up many tmes because she just won't stop crying. She won't even let anyone hold her other than me right now (and trust me we try alot) without her throwing a huge bawling, gasping for air fit. She started this anxiety about a month ago, so sadly no babysitting for us right now....

I do have a shutterfly account and have tried putting a few pics on it but not nearly all the ones they both want. And my MIL doens't own a comupter so that's part of the problem too.

Question for ya - do you even download the "dud" pictures onto shutterfly? That's where I get stuck, I know I can download the whole group but often there are a ton of dud pictures so I feel like I need to week them out before downloading and that's what I don't have time for.

  • I'm editing DS' pics right now and trying to sort out which ones to print. One thing that's made it easy for me to share is Picasa. I plug in my camera/SD card and download all the pics-- on each download I name the album according to DS' age. Once all the pics are on your computer, all you have to do is click one button: "Sync to web" and it will upload all of them to a web album. You can literally do this while feeding your LO. Then you can just share it with whoever you want. That way you don't have to go to another online platform and upload them all over again. It's really easy. There is also options for them to download and print the pics too. Then when you want to edit them later, Picasa is pretty user friendly.

The thought of how many pics of LO I have on my computer, how disorganized they are, how many photobooks I want to make, and how many I want to print gives me nightmares!

  • My MIL kept asking DH to email her pictures every week and it was driving me crazy and so then I told her I was getting a snapfish account going and she said "wonderful,Mary's daughter makes her a book from there each month with the most recent photos, will you be able to do that now?" ummm I don't have the time or money to print anything for ourselves right now but yeah let me get right on making you monthly albums. Needless to say I did create a share site on snapfish so she can make her own books. Oh and I just put everything on the share site.

  • Haha! I have a Flickr account that I upload all the pictures to (well the ones I deem keepers) and my parents complain that they have to log in to see some of them. I don't think you can win.

Thanks so much! I will try this. I hate that I have to do a separate download on other sites. This might be the key. I honestly don't even have time to edit them before downloading so the mother's will have to just handle it themselves! I too have nightmares about the numerous "picture projects" I have to get done because I have promised people. Thanks for the help.

  • I kept telling both of my parents they could download whatever pics they wanted off they web and they kept telling me to send pics. The other day my dad finally said that what they really wanted was for me to pick pictures special just for them and send them... special just for them. Sure they could print them but according to my dad, "It's not the same!". They're old school and that's how they used to do it back in the day. :)

THIS - except at Wal-Mart.  I upload the entire batch and then just send out a "share" email so they can see that batch.  They don't have my password, because not ALL pics are mom approved! lol

This also is my picture back up...they store them by year.  I print all my pics at the end of each year, but if I would ever lose the disc, they are all online at Walmart.
