waketime activities

I play, read, sing. stretching exercises and do tummy time. The weather is so crap that i don't feel like bundling them up and taking them out all the time. Today i'm thinking of taking them to the mall but are there other things you do with your kids? oh i take them on the tour of the house too.

Just wondering if there is anything else you do.

  • It's hard to think of things to do!  I do many of the same things that you do, read, dance, sing, play with toys, tummy time, tour the house, and just tell them about whatever is going on.  Today I explained NYE.  It's so cold I don't want to take them out either.

  • yeah i feel like a "bad" mama because it seems that the things I do with them are so boring.  I read lots of books to them, play with them on the play mat, talk to them, some singing...just doesn't seem like enough.
  • I feel awful because we JUST got a playmat at Christmas.  Before that, their entire waketime was taken up with eating and diaper changes, and me trying to sing and entertain them while the other got dressed/changed.  I also just talk to them.  I knew I was losing it the day I was feeding them and the nightly news was on and I started explaining the estate tax situation to my DS.

I'm also a candidate for mother of the year because I've started TiVoing Sesame Street to have on when we're eating/doing tummy time.  I find it easier to interact with them if I'm singing along with something.  Also no matter what I do, DS is going to turn toward the TV so I figure it may as well be something more appropriate for him. (Don't you love how turning the TV off isn't an option?)
