Am I pumping TOO much?

This is such a stupid question, but I E/P & I pump whenever my LO eats (3hrs). I have managed to create an entire freezer stash, which would be great, if I used it... I usually feed LO the fresh milk which means the freezer stash never goes down & only increases. Unless I donate, all that milk is going to go to waste...so, am I pumping more than I need to? hopefully this makes some sort of sense. ha.

Re: Am I pumping TOO much?

  • I have a freezer stash, too, and it keeps growing. I'd probably pump a bit less, but I'd keep on pumping. You never know when you might need to dip into your freezer stash. Even if you haven't had supply issues, you never know when something might come up or when there might be a bump in the road.

  • Also you might want to occasionally freeze your fresh milk and use frozen since it expires in 3 months in your regular freezer. Don't let it go to waste... It's too valuable!

  • Thanks, ladies! I will try both suggestions!
  • That is exactly what I do.  I like to give Logan fresh so I donate when my freezer gets full with the extra (1500 oz so far).  When he starts solids, I am going to start cutting pumping sessions.
