I think it's cute on a little girl, but I have a tough time picturing it on a supreme court justice. You can always go the route whence Sadie came, though -- Sarah, called Sadie.
I like it. I don't think about dogs. Unfortunately, she may grow up with that association. Maybe you could name her Sandra or Sarah and give her the nickname of Sadie and if she gets that association and hates it, then she has a full name to fall back on?
I think of Sadie, Sadie, an episode of Gilmore Girls where Sookie makes a reference to the Barbara Striesand song from Funny Girl. Though judging by all the previous responses I'm the only nerd who has been having a Gilmore Girls marathon lately.
As some previous people have said I would use it as a nickname for a name that isn't normally associated with dogs.
Eh I think it's cute, but I don't think it grows up well. I have a minor dog association with it, but that alone wouldn't keep me from liking the name. I think it's just cutesy.
I used to associate the name 'Sadie' with dogs; however, my sister named her daughter 'Sadie'. At first, I was a bit put off by my niece being named a 'dog's' name, but now I only think of my niece and I actually think it's cute as a human name! LOL!
Re: Sadie
We had a dog named Sadie growing up, so I would associate it with a dog.
(read it. you know you want to.)

Yup, all I think of is a dog.
this
Dog name.
But if you do use it for a child, I like it better as a nn for Sarah rather than a standalone name.
This. Sorry!
