3rd Trimester

My stomach is actually smaller.

This happened at the very end with my first too.  Doctor told me that the baby drops lower into the pelvis and it makes the stomach smaller b/c there's less of the baby in your stomach.  Interesting.

Re: My stomach is actually smaller.

  • Not following the logic there, sorry... your stomach is above your uterus, not below it.

  • I don't understand why you don't understand?

At 36 weeks I measured 36 weeks.  At 37 weeks I measured 35 weeks.  Doctor's explanation was that she dropped.  Last pregnancy I asked why my somach looked smaller around this time and I was told it was b/c the baby dropped into my pelvis.

whatevs.  If you look at pictures of me from a week or so ago my stomach actually looks bigger.

  • So by "stomach" you really mean "uterus."  Your overall belly could look smaller once LO drops - that makes sense.  Was just confused because the actual stomach (the organ...where your food goes) does not get smaller when the baby drops.

  • I don't think a centimeter or two is that noticable. But to each their own...

I will say that my belly seems to have a different shape every now and then but I think it is how the baby is laying in there.

    Right, that's what I meant.
