We do a fruit/cereal in the morning and a veg/cereal for dinner, and I feel like all I ever serve for "dinner" are sweet potatoes, carrots and squash! Can you tell me what your "dinners" were for 6-8 mo olds? I make my own, for the most part, but am willing to buy jarred stuff as well.
Thanks!
Re: Menu help for 6-8mo olds, please!
I made my guys pea puree, also spinach puree, and they LOVE canned pumpkin puree (like you use for baking). I like to mix different vegetables, so I will often mix an orange vegetable with a green one.
Around 7 or 8 months, I started giving them little finger foods, like cheerios, puffs, and whole wheat toast cut into squares to have them work on feeding themselves.
I also give them pieces of juicy fruits in mesh bags (I like the ones from Munchkin) to work on while I get stuff together.
At one meal a day, I give them yogurt mixed with fruit or a vegetable, and they like that, too.
I have been feeling the same way. My ktichen has been under renovation so I had to start doing jarred food until it was ready (should be this week- hooray!).
My friend recommended the book Cooking For Baby. It has "recipes" in it for baby stews, etc. and she LOVES it. Helps introduce variety including spices, etc. Apparentlly William Sonoma sells the same book under their cover and it's more expensive- she found out the hard way when she bought both! Anyway, I haven't used it yet b/c I'm waiting on my kitchen, but I've heard nothing but great things. I like to cook, so I would be willing to use a baby cookbook.
