More accurately, there goes the nursery and my home office / personal space. I just found out that BIL - the perpetual college student - is moving in with us one week before my DD. I love the guy but this kinda blows ![]()
3 adults, 2 dogs, and our first baby in a 1200 sq ft 2 bedroom 1 bath bungalow. Not exactly how I imagined life with a new baby. The poor guy is also in a wheelchair (permanently disabled) and can't help out much around the house.
Sh!t.
(ok I'm done) ![]()
Re: Well there goes the nursery.
There are other options, but he'll have a much better living environment here with us VS a college dorm. The other option was to live with a friend of his, but it's pretty much a party pad and he'd have a hard time studying there.
Ugh. Now I get to squeeze the crib & desk into my bedroom. Joy! Looks like the changing mattress thing will go on top of the dresser.
Ahh crap. I'm out the 2nd closet now too.
See the above post.
I have a say, but my DH is virtually connected at the hip w/ his brother. Him living with us isn't an impossibility, and as I said before we do get along well and I want him to succeed. This is the best option of those available to him, I'm just having a hissy fit because the thought of being cramped up in my bedroom bums me out. Plus it means more food to prepare and another person to clean up after. Not that big of a deal, but this being our first baby I do worry how overwhelmed I may get.
I just needed a good vent.
That's very nice of you guys to take him in. I'm sorry you're not getting a nursery, but to be honest I think it's much easier to sleep with the baby in the same room anyways. My babies rarely ever used their nurseries until they were much older. Maybe by that point your BIL will have found other living arrangements.
You're doing a wonderful thing, especially considering the fact that your BIL is in a wheelchair. Maybe it will be a big blessing and he will be able to help with the baby or some of the other chores around the house.
Agreed- we are putting together a nursery that LO will barely use for a long time! I understand being bummed about not getting one though
I hope it all works out OK and it's not so bad afterall- that's what family is for
You rock
I have to say this.
This x2! Good for you, you have a big heart to welcome him into your home during this time.
