Kind of Cart Before The Horse: Lets talk "Babymooning"

Because I am sort of bored and looking online at booking a cruise.

When I was on on the bump last time with DD#2 the woman suggested a "babymoon." Sort of like a honeymoon but you go before baby comes.

I did one of these and me and MH spent a few days at the beach, without work pagers, laptops, and with emergency phone calls only.

If we were to get KU again I would defiantly do one, or maybe I will call our cruise a babymoon if the timing is right.

What are your feelings on a babymoon?

Where would you want to go?

At what point in your pregnancy would you choose to go?

I would for sure do this! Though DH has no idea, heh heh. All things in due time - no pun intended. I'd probably do it in my 20th week or so - as long as the doctor was OK with it. Definitely someplace warm - Caribbean sounds nice, or a cruise

Eh, at the moment I don't think I'd want to do it. We've been on a babymoon for eight and a half years, lol. Who knows how I'll feel about it once I am actually pregnant though!

DH and I have talked about doing a weekend trip somewhere nearby - either Nantucket in the summer or White Mountains in the winter or fall, we'll see!

I would definitely want to do this! We are not planning to start TTC for quite a few months but I have given this some thought because I am a nervous flyer and we may have to take some trips for a couple of cousins weddings that will happen after we start trying. I have yet to fly as an adult without Valium and don't believe that would be safe to take while KU. That was basically a long winded way of saying that I would love to take a baby moon with MH as long as we don't fly!

We did this, totally by accident when I was pregnant with Ryan. We already had a vacation scheduled.

It was awesome. It was wonderful to be able to spend that much time together before baby arrived and it really helped us 'reconnect' as a couple. We invited my sister and her DH to join us later on in the week and we both wish we wouldn't have because we had such a great time just the two of us.

I'm not much of a flyer, so going somewhere close would be ideal for me. Although, I do want to go on a cruise. Maybe we should go on a second honeymoon instead and get KU that way.

I'm hoping for this eight months in advance! We just booked a cabin in NC during our second anniversary, which is also the first month we will be trying. I'm sure we won't be that lucky but I'll be optimistic anyway!

I think this is a fantastic idea. If we were to go, I'd like to go tropical, but stay in my time zone, so perhaps northern Carribean. I think I would plan to go during the 2nd tri, as I wouldn't be too large for the heat (hopefully) and over the major fatique/ morning sickness hurdles (oh I'm the optimist!)

What are your feelings on a babymoon? We are planning to take one!!

Where would you want to go? Ideally some place tropical, but most people I know just go to the beach within driving distance of their house- I would be happy with any getaway!

At what point in your pregnancy would you choose to go? I think it would depend on what month I got pregnant and where that lies with DH's job traveling and school holidays. We would probably find a window within those dates.

At what point in pregnancy would one do this? I with my tendency to health anxiety would probably be worried about being away from doctors/hospitals at some tropical local. But clearly lots of folks do it. And I guess there are closer options.

My grandmother is taking the family on a trip to an all inclusive resort in Aruba in June. I am really hoping that I am pregnant before than...so it would be my last big trip before baby!
