So we found out today that our furniture, which we ordered 4 months ago, will probably not be here by the time baby is (waaay over our estimated delivery for furniture), and as a matter of fact the company that manufactures it isn't even answering their phone. We have called the store repeatedly and been told, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do!" They said if our furniture isn't here in time for baby, they have loaner cribs.
I am so frustrated. I know that it's not the end of the world, and we are contemplating getting a bassinet at first anyway, but I am nesting and all I want to do is get the nursery set up. Instead, I am staring at an empty room. Short of calling the store every day, I don't know what to do. It's too late to order new stuff, and even if we did cancel, the store gets to keep half our money. Sigh.
Re: Vent- furniture
We were in a similar situation with dds nursery furniture. We ordered a Munire Urban crib and dresser from our local Baby's Room store when I was 19 weeks pg and paid for the whole thing in full. We were quoted an 8-10 week wait. The 10 weeks came and went with no furniture. I called and was told a few more weeks and this went on with the promise of "a few more weeks" over and over again. I kept documentation of each time I called and who I spoke with and what they told me about the status. As more time passed I directly called Munire and got the number for the local sales rep and left him a message as well (he was pretty unresponsive). At 36 weeks I couldn't take calling them anymore and turned the whole thing over to DH. He spoke with the store manager and we got a free bassinet from them (it was worth between $90 - $100) for our trouble to hold us over until the furniture arrived. It finally arrived and was being set up (free of charge) as we were driving home from the hospital with dd (I had her at 39w 3d and spent 4 nights in the hospital).
The bedding was all washed and waiting so DH put in on as soon as we got home and I had all of the stuff I wanted in the drawers folded in a plastic bin so it only took me a short amount of time to get it all put away. We would have loved to have it all done in advance but in the end it wasn't a huge deal. Dd slept in the bassinet in our room the first 4 weeks anyway.
A few months after all of this the store went out of business leaving a lot of people with no furniture and no way to get a refund:( I was so glad we got our stuff but it was a very frustrating experience so I understand how you're feeling. I would speak with a store manager and see if they could help you with the cost of the bassinet since the furniture did not arrive when it was promised. Good luck, I'm sure it will all work out!

Aww, that would bug the hell out of me too. I was expecting for our crib to arrive after the baby was born since I just ordered it 2 weeks ago. But I was surprised to get a call tonight saying they got an earlier shipment in and they'll deliver the crib next week!!!
I would def see if you could score a freebie bassinet off of them since it's taken way longer than it should.
I could have written this almost word for word... We ordered the same crib and dresser (and nightstand) from Munire. We actually ordered it at 7 weeks (I know, ridiculously early). We have been trying to get it for the past two months, and each time we call, they tell us a couple more weeks. We also ordered from a local furniture store, and up to this point I had thought it was their fault... Now I am thinking it might be Munire that is causing the issue.
I'll have to try calling the company and see if that can get us anywhere. Good luck with your furniture, OP!
