Help with m/s

My morning...well, all day sickness is really not that bad. It's more like an upset stomach with gas and a bit of nausea that comes and goes, but my problem is that the only thing that makes it better is eating. And I don't wanna be eating that much, I mean it's just saltines, but a whole pack in one day it can't be too healthy.

Is there anything you guys can recommend?

TIA!

Re: Help with m/s

  • I did pretty much the same thing, you could try mixing it up a bit... Nuts, yogurt, cheese, etc. Also sucking on hard candy, and they have preggie pops that are supposed to help although I haven't tried them. Ginger is supposed to help too.
  • Loading the player...
  • Have you tried lemon or peppermint? Both help with nausea. When I was in labor, my doula kept giving me peppermint oil to smell when I was getting nauseous, & it helped immensely. During pregnancy, I drank lemon tea or sometimes just sniffed a lemon, & it helped. I hope it gets better soon!
  • First I must say that my OBGYN and MW both said that as long as I was eating something, it didn't matter what it was. Try something sour before/after you eat. I have heard that lemon drops are really helpful.
  • I wish I could say something worked...but nothing did for me....It was so hard having M/S but sooo very worth it....I hope it gets better for you real soon!!!
  • I never had true m/s (puking) but I had nausea often and whenever I felt it coming on, I just ate the most substantial thing I could get a hold of.  Generally it was nuts because I kept them in my desk at work and it wasn't too difficult to get down.  Once I got some down, I was usually OK.
  • Nothing really helped me either, except for eating which was counterproductive because then I'd be so sick, I'd puke, buuuuuut, my girlfriend who's preggo right now, Georgia, swears by the motion sickness bracelets.   She says it helped her tremendously.

Also, like Dani said, peppermint oil is really good too.  You can get a little jar of it at Body Shop - just a dab under your nose will help.  My old aromatherapy friend (who has the coolest name ever - Serandyn) from college used to give it to me when I was hung over.

  • I have m/s so bad when i first wake up (on the days I work) I usually get sick in the shower...and then my stomach's a mess for a few hours... I eat jolly ranchers (per Katers & ChickyMel's suggestion) and then really helped me! Eatting (for me) when I feel like that just makes me throw the food back up, so saltines don't help me. My OB also said that as long as I'm eatting, don't worry about what it is...just make sure you take your vitamins as often as you can. Also, If my stomach's super queasy I wear the Sea-Bands (sea-sickness bracelets) they help!!! I get motion & sea sickness, and as long as I have them on my stomach really does straighten out. Now, I will say, it very well could be in my head...but I don't care bc I'm not nauseated anymore :)

GL & I hope it gets better for you!!!
