Success after IF

DS starts "school" next week and I'm getting teary over it

I feel a little silly and I am trying to chalk it up to pgncy hormones.   I have been fine about it since I made the decision to put him in this school (aka Mother's Morning Out).   I have no qualms about the school- my niece and nephew have gone since they were 2 and I know if the place sucked, my sister would tell me not to send N.    He is only going to be going twice a week and I really think it will be good for him to socialize with other kids his own age.

But I know he's gonna cry cause he won't know anyone and I just remember the one time when my niece was 2 (and my sister was 8 months pg with my nephew) and I went with them to drop niece off at school.  Niece kept hanging on my sister saying "Please let me stay with you.  Don't you want to play with me?"   OMG  I don't know how my sister did it.   Granted Nicholas won't be begging me to stay, but I am sure he will be crying and possibly hanging on to me.  Someone tell me we'll survive.

  • First, omg, what your niece did, how heartbreaking. I don't know what I would have doneCrying

Nicholas will be just fine. He will make friends in no time or at the least find a toy he is really into!  We are moving in 3 weeks and once we get in, I want to find one to send Isabel to. Nicholas will be great and you will get through it tooBig Smile

  • I am starting Caroline in day school as soon as they have an opening.  I'm not sure how I will feel, but I know that for now, I need a break.  4 hours, two days a week sounds like a vacation to me :(

I love my child more than anything on this earth, but we both need some time away from each other.

Here's hoping that Caroline and Nicholas learn to LOVE school!!

Thanks.  I'm also hoping that the fact that my nephew still goes there (but in a different room) will be a little bit of a help.

The thing is I wasn't going to start him til the fall when he's 2 1/2, but I figured it would be better now to get him used to it before the new baby comes in a few months.  Otherwise if I sent him after, he may think "Oh new baby comes, and mom ships me off".   Plus it would give me a break fo a few hours and when the baby comes, I can have some alone time with her.

  • I know that Nicholas is going to be just fine.  Sure, there might be a bit of an adjustment period.  I'm sure the teachers will take special care of him since he's new.  And in a couple of weeks, he'll be running away from you to get to school and you'll be the sad one!  :)

  • He'll do great! Henry started at 12 months and it took him about a month to adjust and not cry when i dropped him off, but now he LOVES it (and so do I)! good luck!
  • So sad about your niece!  Hopefully he'll be like Kira, who although she NEVER had been willing to go to anyone before and had cried and cried, on her first day of school had more of a "don't let the door hit you on your way out" attitude -- she loved it from the first moment!  He'll have a great time, even if there is an adjustment period.  Good luck!

My thoughts exactly. You'll just love picking him up because he'll be so excited to see you after the short absence!
