how often does your 6mo eat?

Just wondering. Mine is still every 2-3 hours most days, 4-5 nights. But sometimes she reverses!

  • My DD just turned 7 months but she eats about every 3 hours:

    • Nurses at 4:00a
    • Nurses at 7:00a
    • Cereal at 10:00a and then the remainder of her bottle
    • Bottle at 1:00p
    • Stage 1 veggie or fruit at 4:00p and then a bottle
    • Nurses at 7:00p
    • Nurses at bedtime (roughly 9:30ish)

  • it is normal for EBF babies to nurse every two hours for as long as they nurse because BF babies always control the amount of milk they get their tummies never get much bigger then 4-5 ounces, this is why bf babies are less likely to suffer from obesity and all the other ills that come with it! SO it is a good thing your LO still nurses often!

  • About every 2.5 hours. It's kinda frustrating now that she's bigger, but what can you do? She's hungry, I feed her.

  • 1.5 hours, maybe 2 when we are together.  She LOVES nursing - she still wakes up at least 3 times a night to nurse too (we bedshare so it isn't as bad as it sounds).  I thought that by this age we wouldn't be nursing this often but like PP said...she's hungry, I feed her :)

I actually just read an article about this, what  it said was that babies that were EBF for the 1st 6months are more in tune with their  hunger/fullness cues.  The reasoning behind this was that bottle fed babies were more likely to be made to finish bottle going past the point of satiaton.  It also said that EBF were more likely not to finish there bottles because they stopped when they were full.  This carries with them thru adulthood thus leading to less chances of suffering from obesity.

Another great reason to BF!  :)
