2nd Trimester

can nausea suddenly disappear???

hi, ladies.

I've been having extreme nausea for 5 weeks, with lots of vomiting for the past 3 weeks. I've been getting weekly weight checks. I had one yesterday. I've lost 9 pounds in all, but the doc is more concerned with keeping me hydrated. somehow I've managed to stay hydrated enough. we did an ultrasound and baby is good.

now all of a sudden this morning -- no nausea. and I'm freaking out. I know I'm at the point where nausea is supposed to ease, but I thought it would taper off. is it normal to just have it vanish like this?

Re: can nausea suddenly disappear???

  • Mine did! I didn't have it as severe as it sounds like you did, but I woke up one morning and it was gone! Maybe talk to your Doctor?! I'd say if you feel okay otherwise just be greatful that it went away!Wink

  • It's nothing to worry about, it's something to be grateful for.  Enjoy the m/s free life!
  • I had nausea (no vomiting though) from weeks 6-9 then it suddenly went away. I called my doc and he said if you have no other symptoms don't worry about it and just enjoy feeling better. :) I was down 7 lbs at the time (even without vomiting) and have gained back 4 since then... My guess is you're all good! Enjoy feeling better. Nausea is "supposed" to to away about now.

I should also mention there were a few days of transition where I didn't have nausea in the morning but did in the afternoon.

  • I had days where I felt fine, sometimes a couple in a row and then it would come back, but when it went away yes it just disappeared! :)

  • Mine still hasn't.  If yours has, be grateful!!
