Is anyone here on Alabama Medicaid? My husband and I are possibly moving to AL in the next few weeks. We are concerned his new job's insurance will not cover me since I am already pregnant. We are going to look into Medicaid to cover my prenatal apts until the baby is born, then be picked up by the company's ins. I'm just trying to find out the regulations for Medicaid and see if anyone knows what the income limit is. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Re: Medicaid
Hi, I'm not sure of Medicaid but I did want to add that according to both VIVA and United Healthcare, pregnancy was not considered a "pre-existing condition" (pregnancy isn't an illness or complication).
I got married and changed insurance to my DH's during my first trimester without an issue. But we did call both insurance companies to double-check first (DH's company is currently with one but preparing to switch companies after the 1st of the year).
Also, you could always call into the insurance company as a general question- they don't need any identifying information to answer whether pregnancy would be covered. Just tell them your husband is the primary. That's how we had peace of mind before the change

Sorry, just as an update, I found this online:

Pregnancy is not a pre-existing condition so you should be fine, especially if you already have coverage under your existing plan.
However what's most important is that your husband's new insurance has maternity coverage. Most companies provide for it but some smaller ones do not.
