Hi, I have never posted here but thought you ladies might have some good info!
I am interested in overhauling my kitchen and getting rid of plastics.. glass food storage, etc.. Can anybody point me in the right direction??
Also, anyone have experience in using birdseye material for non-paper towels??
TIA!
Re: Hi, and ??: plastic free kitchen?
I also have some Pyrex & Anchor storage containers (also oven safe) that I LOVE. I have a number in different shapes & sizes.
I have Freecycled most of the plastic stuff I had so I wasn't just putting it in the trash or recycling.

I am going through this same transformation! I got some wonderful bamboo spoons and turners from Kohls recently. I still need to get more Pyrex/ Corningware. I have a few pieces of each and both are great. Pyrex is better for freezing. One thing most people forget about is ice cube trays! I have an ice cube maker but I did use trays for freezing purees. There are some stainless steel ones available but they are pricy. I am looking into silicone trays. I still have sippy cups of course (all BPA free) and a couple stainless steel ones that DS loves!!
I, too, have glass pyrex and anchor storage bowls that I love! They are great.
I also have birdseye unpaper towels that I've used for over a year, and I love them.
HomeGoods/TJ Maxx usually have some glass containers that seal well. The lids are plastic, so I wash them by hand, but they have a silicone seal, and they work well in the freezer - I want to switch all my lovely KitchenAid red utensils to metal utensils from All Clad - but they are so darn expensive! I did switch my measuring cups and measuring spoons recently to metal -
Good luck!
Sorry I posted and ran!!
Thanks for all the great tips
I will definitely be on the lookout for bamboo stuff for the kiddos!! I also like the idea of freecycling the current plastics!
I'm sure I will be posting more as I try to simplify/clean up my household!
