Hello Ladies,
My husband and I have decided to become Foster to Adopt parents. We always planned on adopting, however after losing our triplets in November we decided to focus on adoption rather than doing IVF. Our application is turned in and we are waiting on getting a case worker assigned to us. We're really excited about it.
I was adopted as an infant through the foster care system, obviously I have no recollection of this. If anyone has tips or advice on foster to adopt they would be appreciated.
Re: New here and intro
We are doing foster care right now but not foster to adopt. My only advice would be to look at having a private agency to work with you. In our case the state hardly ever contacts us and we've had 3 caseworkers go on Family Medical Leave without even notifying us. Nothing is moving forward on his case and to be honest with out our Private Caseworker I would have been completely lost in the system. She helps us through everything including the paper work....which is a ton each month. We don't pay her anything either. but if you do need any advice, there are a ton of foster moms on here to help. Here are some foster blogs that I love too....I find it so helpful to read that other people are going through what I am.
