Co sleeping..

Ok since I am asking for opinions I do expect some flamming.

We have been trying so hard to have girls in separate cribs since the beginning and it worked for a little while and then it just stopped working for weeks and was becoming miserable and getting no sleep. So we just set the pack n play back up in our bedroom at the end of our bed and have put the girls in the pnp together and they are sleeping great! They both sleep in sleep sacks and they seem to love our pack n play, (bright starts with sleep easy incline)

So opinons on co sleeping.

  • I will be co sleeping my babies once they arrive.  I don't see the harm it in until they seem to be uncomfortable.

  • my guess is that they like sleeping in your room - not necessarily sleeping together being the fix... but could be.

my boys slept in bedside cosleepers - so they were right next to us on each side (arms reach minis)... it was fantastic - they were in there until 6mo... so great to be able to reach over and replace a paci, pat a belly, etc- without getting out of bed.  Might be a good option if you are hesitant to let them cosleep together.

We did not consider them cosleeping at all b/c it is a SIDS risk - one we were not willing to take.... and it didn't hinder their sleep at all - they were both STTN at 8w.

  • We occassionally nap them together in the PnP when MIL is watching them b/c she literally sits next to them when they are in there. Other than that, we wouldnt' let them sleep together in the PnP anymore b/c one day around 2 months, we found DD rolled up against DS, with her mouth pressed against him. And that was in the crib, where they have lots of room. That scared us, so we stopped cosleeping them.

Like Goldie said, I think they like sleeping int he same room with you, not necessarily sleeping together. We also use two cosleepers, and the babies love to sleep in the same room as us. That might be a better solution.

  • We were too nervous to let them co sleep.  The dangers of it were warned in the NICU and I wasn't willing to take any chances after all the heartache it took to get them here safely.

  • We coslept ours for about 6 months.  Once they started trying to wake the other one up when they woke up, we separated them.

  • My daughters were only happy sleeping on an incline thanks to reflux and loved sleeping in my room in their newborn rock and plays! I haven't gotten as much sleep as I did when they slept with me in there!
