Hi ladies,
I am having a hard time determining whether a wipes warmer will be necessary for LO or not. Initially, I thought I would definitely get one but then read a lot of negative reviews on them regarding bacteria growth in the warmer due to temperature, lids not staying shut leading to dried out wipes, babies developing infections like UTIs or getting diaper rash all of a sudden - eek! Do any of you use a warmer or plan to use one? I use makeup remover pads for my eye makeup at night and those things feel frigid! I just felt concerned for LO's bottom! I should add though, that I live in one of the warmest regions of Southern California so maybe they're not necessary...?
Re: Wipes Warmers - Good or Bad?
I used/use one with ds#1 and will with this one too. I've never had an issue with bacterial growth - and the few times that my dh has left the lid open and the wipes dried a bit, I just added a few drops of water and they were good as new.
We had one with LO. I thought it was going to be awesome. To be completely honest, it was a waste.
I used it initially, but just stopped spending time loading it as it was much easier to throw a bag of wipes in his diaper drawer.
I don't even know where it is now, but I have no plans on using it again. In the beginning I used a lot of warm wash clothes anyway.
We were going to register for one until the BRU Advisor told us not to. She basically said that if you get your baby used to using the warm wipes, what's gonna happen when you don't have a warm wipe to use...they're going to scream/fuss. it's better to get them used to the cold ones. that was an easy choice for us to take off the registry.

lame!!! I never used ours! It was a waste of money!
Edit: I agree with PP about cold versus warm wipes down the road for baby. I feel the same way with warming milk. We never warmed DS's milk...it was always cold or luke-warm. We didn't use a bottle warmer either. GL!
