Is u/s in 3rd trimester standard?

I see all these u/s postings from ppl, but my dr. hasn't mentioned anything... Just wondering if one is normally scheduled and, if so, what week, or is it just when something needs to get checked out?

My doctor said they wont do another one unless when they check my cervix they cant feel the head. Then they would get one to see how baby is laying.

What she said, and if you aren't measuring up to what you're supposed to they might do one. Otherwise if you get one it's most likely not covered by insurance. Some women do 3D or 4D ultrasounds in their third trimester, but you usually have to pay for those by yourself. I was told I don't get one because she's measuring fine and head down.

As far as I know standard is around 18-20 weeks and just one. But depending on issues like GD/ pre e or position, u/s happen in the 3rd tri.

I've already had 5 u/s this pregnancy and have another growth one at 36 weeks due to having gd.

If your pregnancy is going smoothly and baby feels head down most likely you won't have another u/s

My doctor wont do one in the 3rd trimester unless the baby is measuring too small or too big.

I haven't had one in third tri. And I won't unless I get to 42 weeks or if there is something else that comes up a concern between now and then.

They usually only give you an u/s in 3rd tri if you have high risk, have complications, or your measurements are off one way or the other.

I will have one next week to see if the placenta has moved since I have a low lying placenta. We also elected to get an 3D/4D at 30 weeks.

Ah, good to know. Of course, it's a good thing not to have any complications, thusfar. I'll just have to be patient and see my LO in person

I will have one next week to check my placenta - it was low at my 20 week u/s. I wouldn't be having one if not for that.

My OB with my DD and my new OB both do 3rd tri u/s (at 32ish weeks) to confirm position, get a look at everything, etc. if the baby is breech another u/s will be scheduled for 37 weeks.

This. I have one (totally unexpected) on Monday for a growth check. It's not standard procedure at my OB unless the PP's above mentioned occur.

I had one at 32 weeks. My doc likes to look to make sure that you are not having a too small or too large baby. She likes to at least have a guess on how big the baby will be/

Ditto! I'm paying to have a 3D/4D scan done tomorrow. But it's for personal reasons and insurance will not cover it.

I just had my appt. today. He told me they will schedule a growth ultra sound for next week (when I get my strep B test and start my weekly appts), They check for the amount of fluid around the baby, size, etc.
