due to some insurance issues, i haven't been to the dr yet for anything related to this pregnancy. i'm still waiting on some things to be worked out and probably won't be able to be seen until i'm around 12 weeks or so... hopefully sooner, but i doubt it.
anyway, i'm just super paranoid that even though i haven't had any spotting or anything (with the exception of brown spotting about 4 days before i got my bfp), i'm really worried that when i do get to the doctor, that i'll find out i had a missed mc or something.
could anyone help ease my mind with this? that since my belly is ever so bloating and even though i'm not having any issues that i'm aware of, that things are most likely fine? just need to hear a voice of reason i guess...
Re: neff: could you help ease my mind a little?
hrm. Well, they wouldn't be able to hear a heartbeat quite yet, I don't think. So unless they decided to do an u/s on you early you wouldn't know about a missed miscarriage until later anyway.
That being said, would your doctor be able to give you a non-insured discount? I know that some docs drop their fees lower if you don't have insurance.
Ditto. As long as you're taking care of yourself and getting your prenatals, there's really not much that can be done at this point. I don't know if that's comforting, but it generally does work for me... As long as you're not having any pelvic pain or bleeding, I say all is probably well.
That said, if it's any later than 12 wks, I'd see if you can't get into a clinic or get a good discount through your doctor.
yes, the only thing my MW would do for someone with no problem history would be some bloodwork, and a trans-vag ultrasound at 10-12 weeks. If you can't get things worked out by then, you should call your office and see what they recommend and if they can work something out for you.
We have a local privately run crisis pregnancy center that will do ultrasounds for free. I have a friend who had a previous m/c, and with her next pregnancy she went in there for an early ultrasound at 8 or 9 weeks to put her mind at ease, (and i think her insurance wasn't going to cover but one ultrasound for the entire pregnancy). If you can't find something like that on your own, a church (esp Catholic) might know of some other resources. Planned parenthood might be another thing to check out.
then there is always your local Social Services or health department, which might help if your income is low.
Good luck!
thanks ladies! w/ds we were able to see his heartbeat through u/s at 9 weeks... i'm hoping to hear something any day as far as my insurance goes... so hopefully it will be sooner, but it could be as long as a few more weeks :-(
but you're right, not a whole lot i can do right now other than what i'm doing... and not having any issues, i think its my lack of symptoms that is driving me crazy lol. w/ds i had lots of nausea and this time, nada. i know they say every pregnancy is different, i just keep trying to remind myself that!
With DS, I had absolutely no bad symptoms (other than some breast changes early on, which because of nursing, I don't think I had at all this time) during 1st tri. He's perfect!!
This lil' stinker I had some light morning sickness. Every pg is different!
