New Year's Eve for Pre-Schoolers

I am thinking of doing a mini New Year's Eve celebration for my almost 4 year old son.  He understands that the year is changing and it will be a new year.  We will be at home.  I was thinking of doing an 8pm countdown type of thing.  I saw Dollar Store had some cheap things.  Any ideas or am I being totally lame?!?!

TIA!

  • We do a New Year's Eve party every year.  We invite a group of friends (the same crowd every year).  We all have kids that are 4 turning 5 and then most of us have a younger child.  We met in a mommy and me type class.  We host every year and decorate the house, have pizza and everyone brings something to share.  We get noisemakers.  Its a blast.

  • I think it'd be fun! You could even turn the clocks ahead to midnight for him.

  • Thanks for the ideas!  I went to Dollar Tree and got some cheap festive things.  I know he'll love it.

     Happy New Year!

  • that sounds cute.

Griffin doesn't really get that it's going to be a new year- so i'm not doing anything... next year we will.

he understands months, and certain holidays are in certain months, etc - but he hasn't really figured out "year" yet.... hell, everything that has happened in the past happened "yesterday" to him, and anything in the future is "tomorrow" :)
