Failed my 1 hour GD test (but only by 7 pts, and I did eat a breakfast of 2 eggs about 1.5 hrs before the appt, so hopefully i'll pass the fasting 3 hour)
Low iron - was 11.4, whereas I'm usually 13-14. She gave me some iron pills samples, I'm trying to decide if I want to try just altering my diet first.
a LITTLE protein in the urine. The nurse and MW both said it was not a biggie, but i've never had it before, and combined with the above, it worries me.
baby's sideways. I totally know this can and will change in the next 3 months, but jeez...
on a good note, my BP is beautiful, baby has strong HB, measuring spot on, and my weight gain thus far is a respectable 12 lbs, though i feel like a fat cow. Whenever someone asks when I'm due and I tell them not for 3 months, they get a shocked look on their face... FUN times!
Re: Not the best MW appointment...
sounds like you're already trying but keep focusing on the good stuff!! and if the mw isn't worried, try not to either.
also, dd looooved hanging out sideways for a good while but did make her way head down so hopefully your peanut will too.
how often are they checking your iron? i'd prob try dietary changes before the pills if it's not too concerning at this point. the last thing i needed when pg was something else constipating me! lol.
my bfp chart!
our hippy baby blog
this is exactly why I'm hesitating on the pills. I'm going to try adding some iron-rich foods, but being a vegetarian, and if I have to follow a GD diet, that will be kinda tricky. I'm admittedly a carb-o-holic, and when our garden isn't producing, I'm woefully low on fresh greens.
I'm assuming they will check my iron next week at my 3 hr test since they will be drawing blood anyway. Otherwise it would be at my next regular appointment in 2 weeks.
I think 7 points is hardly anything. I would give it a margin +/- 10 pts and say you're still good
My iron was a little low last week, too. I was 13-14 when I was pg last time and I feel like I can tell the difference being right below 12. I've felt extra tired and even short of breath sometimes. I'm not super keen on taking iron pills, though. I eat cream of wheat a few mornings a week and I'm going to try to eat red meat once a week. Probably it would help if I took my pnv's every single night instead of well... when I remember. oops!
And I hear ya about the belly! I think I've gained 15 lbs, but yeah... a lot of people can't believe I have 3 months left! And I feel giant!
I'm sure you'll pass your 3 hour
DD was sideways or breech right up to 34 weeks- try not to worry about it!
And- I'm still taking iron supplements (iron isn't super low, but it hovers at the low end and my MW just suggested I do) but opted to take hemaplex over a traditional iron pill... it's much easier on my stomach and hasn't caused constipation
I failed the 1 hr both pgs and have yet to fail the 3 hour! (whoot) Bring a good book!
I'm somewhat surprised I haven't had low iron during this (or last) pg. Try the diet if you think that is a major factor - I always try and remember that vitamin C helps the body absorb iron. Helps for when I'm trying to get it up there for blood donations.
I had a little protein in my urine last pregnancy - a few times. Nurses said it was most likely because I was dehydrated. They were never concerned, as I had great blood pressure and no other warning signs.
and check out spinningbabies.com - got DS to turn last pg! Haven't needed it this pg - although I have been doing the pelvic tilts and my doula suggested crawling about 5 minutes a day to keep baby in the best position. Seems to be working (or at least not hurting) so far! FWIW, my doctor wouldn't even check that early, as there really is SO much time for them still to turn. She didn't really think it meant much until my last app't at 32 weeks.
Hope your next app't is more fabulous, and GL on the 3 hour!!
I'm sure you will pass your 3 hour as 7 points isn't a big deal. The one hour is just a screening so not everyone needs to take the 3 hour. The 3 hour is the real deal. The eggs wouldn't have caused you to fail as they have no carbs in them. If you had toast or bread that could have caused your numbers to go up.
Adding molasses to toast is a way to increase your iron as it is pretty high in iron. I think it has at least 25% of your daily requirement of iron.
