Can this even be done? I'm so tired of not sleeping...i'm a cranky, horrible angry person:(
I've got the book and skimmed the index but didn't see any mention of room sharing. I'm wondering if i should just do it one kid at a time then move them in together?
Anyone have experience with this?
TIA,
Leslie
Re: XP: Ferber with siblings sharing a room?
I DON'T have any experience with this whatsoever. I'm just brainstorming a little with you since no one's responded yet.
Why don't you try letting them/her CIO one night in the same room? Or for a few nights? (I haven't read the Ferber book, so I'm not certain on the details.) I would do it on a weekend where you could rest/nap/have DH's help. It's worth a try, right? Besides, it wouldn't hurt for them to learn to sleep through the other one's cries too, right?
Again, just brainstorming. I look forward to seeing others' responses as we'll have the kids sharing a room too.
My 2 share a room also, but we haven't had to ferber DD so far (knock on wood). Is it just the youngest that needs to CIO? Could you move the older one into a pack and play in your room for a few nights while the crying is happening? That was going to be our plan. I have noticed, however, that once mine are asleep, they usually sleep through each other's crying - but I haven't let them cry for that long because I am afraid they will wake each other up.
Good luck to you! I am hoping if we do need to Ferber again we will have moved into a bigger place by then
