This is regarding the hospital bag for labor & delivery. I've seen the long lists of things to pack, but since I always tend to over pack, I am wondering what is actually really helpful/necessary/nice to have with and what is just unnecessary. Thanks!
Re: "The Bag" - What to pack?
I liked having lightly scented lotion so I felt a little normal..
Slippers, nursing tank, hoodie-type cover-up, comfy clothes for going home, toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm, comb, a little makeup if you want-just to name a few things
Your L&D nurse will likely bring you a bag of toiletries is you forgot them. Mine did. I wasn't packed for anything when I went into labor with Emma at 36 weeks.
She brought me mouthwash, tooth paste and a tooth brush of the hospital stuff and it was gross. I had DH go home and get my tooth brush, tooth paste, scope, my shampoo and conditioner, pj's, fresh socks and panties, my compression garment for post surgery, brush, hair dryer, and the camera. I wanted my laptop too.
You really don't need much. Camera, toiletry items (toothbrush, chapstick, lotion, contacts/glasses, etc.), clean clothes to wear home, an outfit for baby to wear home, carseat, blanket.
I didn't wear any regular clothes at hospital (except when I left). I wore a hospital gown because it was easier to nurse in and comfortable for me.
I am lurking from 3-6 board
Make sure you have your phone chargers, change for the vending machine ( I delivered at 1:20 am and was starving and so was my hubby. I was home when i went into labor so i had my husband pack 2 pbj sandwiches that he thanked me for later.
I way overpacked. The nurses even thought i was moving in. I stayed in my hospital gown because i was nursing and it was so easy to yank it off and the docs came and checked me so much.
I was happy to have brought
Blanket, pillow, makeup, toothbrush, shampoo, car chargers, Bring a pen and notebook (it helps with the stupid little things that may come to mind), slippers, book, vending machine money. I think thats all i used
Happy delivery
