2nd Trimester

Getting nervous. I don't know if I can do this!

Dh and I thought it would be funny last night to play a recording of a baby crying to our cats, just to see how they would react. Well, I think it freaked out Dh and I more than the cats. I'm so freaking out now. Part of me still can't believe that I really am pregnant, even though I feel baby kick everyday. I'm so nervous now. I know this is nornal, but omg I am so freaked out.

  • a crying baby can be stressful, but its very different if its your baby or not. I never had anything to do with kids before I had DD and was very nervous. But once I held her in my arms I was her mommy and the overwhelming love and your mother feelings will guide you and you can do it. Do a baby class and you will see its not rocket science. They need love, some mommy milk (or F), a dry diaper a safe place.

  • I agree with PP.  It is different when it is your baby crying -- it doesn't make your ears cringe like when it is someone else's baby at the grocery store!  It's normal to be nervous, but you will see, it will all fall into place!

  • You will be fine. And if you're not, there are loads of medical professionals and experienced moms out there who can help.

Besides, it's a little to late to turn back now.

  • I freaked out a bit about having a baby when I was pregnant with DD, but I freaked out when I was in labor. Haha what a time to think I wasn't ready! Once I saw her and held her I haven't again thought that I wasn't ready. She's the absolute love of my life, and you are going to be ready! Big Smile
  • Thanks ladies. I knew you would understand. I am really looking forward to finally having my first child. I have a total of 11 nieces and nephews that I helped raise, so I should be fine. I think the look on Dh's face was what freaked me out more, lol. He has very little experience with babies, this should be fun. I am actually signing us up for classes as of next week. Can't wait to see how Dh does with them : p
  • It is so normal, and honestly you will go so much support and help in the hospital before you go home you will feel comfortable! I remember when I lost my mucous plug I think I went into a state of shock, like crap this is actually going to happen!! It is super stressful but the love you feel for your LO makes up for it!

  • Lol. I don't blame you. I've definitely went through that. My neighbors have a 3 week old daughter and when she cries I get all nervous. Even though I have 3 children, I haven't had a newborn in 4 years. So I'm kind of like, "omg am I ready for this again?!!" Then I start the freak out all over again, lol. It'll go away though.

  • I know exactly how you feel. I have been wanting to be pregnant for years, now that I am I can hardly believe it. And I can hardly stand for anyone to call me mom, or make suggestions like that. Plus the thought of giving birth doesn't help. People have actually gotten upset with me for not being more excited.

I know one thing I love the baby already, but I'm just not all screaming excited like I thought I would be. I bet we'll be great Mo . . . . well ya know ;)
