Has anyone pulled out the baby food again?

Luke used to love veggies.  I can't get him to eat them anymore.  I try hiding them in recipes, he won't eat it.  I try hiding them in other bites of food, and he spits out only the veggie.  I'm going to try doing a fruit/veggie smoothie this weekend.  But I'm also considering trying some pureed veggies again.  Thoughts?

  • I don't think it's a big deal.  DD is a great eater, except she won't touch orange veggies, so I still feed her pureed carrots, sweet potatoes, or squash every other day.  I won't do it forever, and I'm pretty sure it won't scar her for life.

  • The  only way DD will eat veggies is from a jar of purees, so we never stopped buying them. i try and try to give her real ones, but she won't eat it.

  • O loves (LOVES) 3rd foods green beans. We always have them on hand- I figure I can at least get green beans in him when he throws everything else on the floor. It's the one thing he will always eat.
  • I guess I just worry that when I offer the veggies he still won't eat them because he'll like the purees so much.
  • Baby food never went away in our house.  He gets pureed fruit and cereal every morning, mashed sweet potatoes or carrots or peas with chicken for lunch and then sometimes a jar of meat/veg for dinner.  We give him table food too but he just doesn't eat enough so baby food it is!

  • We were doing baby food in our house, until this week, when Tegan decided that she wasn't interested in purees anymore. She won't touch "whole" veggies, so for now, I'm just going to keep offering them and hope that she'll eventually start eating them.

  • We still give DD the pureed fruits and veggies in the pouches.  She thinks they're fruit and she'll actually get them out of the cabinet herself when she wants them for a snack.  I'll continue to buy them as long as she'll eat them.  I've even given them to my 4yr old when she is on a veggie strike.  Best invention ever! LOL!
  • I still feed DS pureed meat because he was borderline (not) anemic when they did the finger prick followed by blood work. He eats not pureed meat but not nearly enough because he takes a loooooooooong time chewing it and then gets bored and is done.

  • I could have written this post word for word. DD ate veggies like none other when they were pureed. Now, I'll try giving her any veggie and she makes a face, then spits it out. So, I've reverted back to the 3rd stage jarred food. She has no problem with the other food groups. At her 12 month appt, I brought it up with her pedi and he didn't have a problem with me giving her baby food again.

I'll keep trying with the regular "grown up" veggies, but until then, I'll keep feeding her the chunkier purees.
