How was those appts different from your regular appts? I have the big u/s at the peri on Monday along with the genetic counseling. I will still continue to see my regular OB, she just wants them to do the u/s since they have better equipment. (I'm almost 35 and have 3 big fibroids and lots of scar tissue.) I had the quad screen that didn't come back with anything out of the ordinary, I'm just a little (more) anxious than usual about the appt.
TIA
Re: If you went to a perinatologist or had the genetic counseling...
Hi! I went & had these done for different reasons then you but I can tell you the U/S they do is very cool. It's so in depth, you get to see everything. They explained what they were looking for, which is just the basic organs and such. It took about an hour or so & afterwards I got about 25 pics! It was fun & fascinating. I brought my mom and MIL with me because they wanted to see what the baby looked like.I talk to a genetic counselor that explained Trisomy 18 so it wasn't really fun. . . she was however very professional, & willing to answer any questions I had. She explain what an amnio was & what steps we would be taking after that. I was glad I got to talk to her. Good luck & have fun with your ultrasound tomorrow

I had to do the perinatalogist visit because I have fibroids also. Most of the visit was with the genetic counselor; she made a family tree and tried to identify any genetic problems in the family. She talked about all the tests that I could do (after 20 weeks). Then the u/s tech did a very thorough anatomy scan. The u/s is super high resolution... A good time later the actual perinatalogist came in and talked to me about the fibroids. It was a long appointment, and the doctor wasn't with me for very long - I guess because he's a a specialist he doesn't worry much about bedside manner. The results of my visit have been really important for the OB though.
GL!
Katie had a slight irregularity in her heartbeat at at 16 weeks. We were sent to the peri. so he could listen to the extra beat. He determined it was just a minor arrhythmia and she should outgrow it by birth (which she did)
The difference was the u/s equipment was more high-tech and even the nurse who came in to take my blood pressure and temperature was trained in using the u/s machine. She was able to tell me if we were having a girl at 15w5d. Her job was to take a lot of still photos and have them lined up for the perinatologist when he came in. When he finally arrived, he looked over all her still shots and then listened to the heart.
